Created in 1985, the Reigning Queens series celebrates four contemporary monarchs: Elizabeth II (United Kingdom), Margrethe II (Denmark), Beatrix (Netherlands), and Ntfombi Tfwala (Eswatini). Andy Warhol drew inspiration from official portraits to transform these sovereigns into pop icons, using silkscreen printing and vibrant colors to blend glamour and monumentality.
