Marilyn Monroe, The Last Sitting

In June 1962, American photographer Bert Stern was commissioned by Vogue magazine to create a series of portraits of Marilyn Monroe. The shoot took place in suite 261 of the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles and lasted three days. More than 2,500 photographs were taken, in both black and white and color. A few weeks later, Marilyn Monroe died, giving this editorial commission a historical significance: it would remain the actress's last official photo shoot.
