THREE REALMS SERIES

In the Three Realms series, Liu Zheng features young women projected into three universes: the kingdom of men, gods and ghosts. In these erotic photographs composed like scenes from classical Chinese opera he questions the Chinese collective conscience. Through kitsch and symbolism, he denounces here a false "historical" reality anchored in the cultural values of the country considered to be both superficial and decadent. Conversely, he subsequently produced the series of photographs - The Chinese - during a trip seven years in all parts of the country to provide a real vision of Chinese society.
