The works of Kong Shengqi, carved from soft, pale wood, bring forth fantastic, organic creatures from the material, with round faces and naïve, sometimes almost childlike and sometimes terrifying features. Her evident love for wood as a material and the way he sculpts it particularly evoke the art of the Indigenous peoples of Northern America, as seen in Alaska or the Inuit lands of Canada.
