Li\u00ean Ho\u00e0ng-Xu\u00e2n takes part in this exhibition which gathers six artists on the common theme of love and its treatment in contemporary art, that is intertwined with other themes linked to social, political and more personal issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis work adapts the kitsch aesthetic of sentimental karaoke videos by using a popular Taiwanese love song entitled Heart to Heart sung in Mandarin by a famous singer from the 1980s, Shen Yan. With a well-balanced sense of pastiche, Li\u00ean Ho\u00e0ng-Xu\u00e2n stages a dancer practicing playback in a theatrical scenography that distorts the idea of folklore to offer an \u201cAsian\u201d representation without any real referent. After a few weeks of hope and jubilation, the Lebanese \u201cthawra\u201d (revolution) looks like a long shipwreck, a slow entry into the night. Arrived in Beirut in September 2019, Li\u00ean Ho\u00e0ng-Xu\u00e2n was caught up in the movement and its chaotic rhythm.
