Born in 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City and a graduate of the Villa Arson, Juliette Kiều Mi Châu grew up between Vietnam and France—two territories that have deeply shaped her relationship to landscape, material, and the rhythms of the world.
She develops a pictorial practice in which microstructures, ecosystems, and inner landscapes are approached as sensitive environments.
Her work explores the world as a relational continuum, where forms, materials, and gestures generate one another. Situated between biomorphic abstraction and organic figuration, her painting is conceived as an inhabited milieu, crossed by flows, memories, and transformations.
The works do not seek to represent, but rather to offer a sensory experience: a breathing space where forms emerge through their interactions. Networks, membranes, filaments, branches, porous structures… Forms appear as processes: they arise from the gesture, move, transform, and recombine.
Through layers, glazes, and drawn lines, the artist develops cartographies in which the visible often allows imperceptible relations to surface—circulations of energy, matter, and memory.
Painting becomes a place of passage, a space of transition, where attention is given to both what appears and what circulates between forms.
Nourished by ecological, phenomenological, and feminist approaches to the body, her practice rejects any form of hierarchy.
The world is conceived as a continuous atmosphere, where each element exists through its relations with others.
The canvas thus becomes a space of observation and gestation: a place where a network takes shape, a landscape begins to unfold, a world emerges—always in a state of becoming.
A “milieu-painting,” traversed by a dynamic field of relations, where the sensory reveals itself through metamorphosis and the pulsation of the connections that animate it.
