Andy Warhol and his friends

A major figure of Pop Art, Andy Warhol (1928–1987) captured the spirit of an era defined by consumer society, media explosion, and the birth of a global culture. His Flowers, his portraits of Elizabeth Taylor, Man Ray, Sylvia Williams, as well as his reinvented toy Rollover Mouse, embody a vision in which the image becomes myth.

Around him gravitated artists, musicians, and stars: Christopher Makos’ photographs immerse us in Warhol’s intimacy with Basquiat, Lennon, Haring, or Dalí, while Paul Morrissey’s shots bear witness to the Factory and its figures, and Bert Stern immortalizes a fragile yet eternal Marilyn Monroe during her final photo session in 1962.

Between dazzling silkscreens and iconic portraits, the exhibition revives the creative energy and electric atmosphere of the 1960s to 1980s, when New York was the laboratory of a new modernity.
