Thirst and Painting - 4HM (Collective Exhibition)

From November 13th to December 18th Exhibition of the collective 4HM, work on paper at Galerie LOFT. To conclude its 2014 exhibition program, Galerie Loft, in collaboration with Galerie Elion in Beijing, presents an international Chinese collective of artists: 4HM. The artists forming this collective—Lin Mo, Nicolaï, Da Bao (Li Yongmin), and Cristóbal Ortega—have worked closely together to conceive this exhibition of works on paper, which will be presented in Paris, Madrid, and Beijing.

These works are created around the theme of ‘thirst’—that which, according to Ignacio Gómez de Liaño, author of the exhibition catalogue preface, ‘lies at the core of all things, at the deepest level of existence.’ This “thirst,” to which each artist responds in their own way (Nicolaï through plastic and conceptual challenges; Cristóbal Ortega through flowing currents evoking an evanescent world; Lin Mo through petrified wood transformed into letters and arboreal gestures; Li Yongmin through an offering of calm and humble simplicity), seems to seek to soothe that which ‘devours us as it devours every man and every thing that exists.’”
