The artist

Kong Shengqi’s works, carved in wood, soft and clear, bring out of the material fantastic and organic creatures, with round faces and naive features, sometimes almost childish and sometimes terrifying.

Her obvious love for the material that is wood and her way of sculpting it particularly evokes the arts of the natives of North America, which can be found in Alaska or on the Inuit lands of Canada.

Les œuvres de Kong Shengqi, taillées dans du bois, tendre et clair, font émerger de la matière des créatures fantastiques et organiques, aux visages ronds et aux traits naïfs, parfois presque enfantins et parfois terrifiants. Son amour évident pour la matière qu’est le bois et sa manière de le sculpter évoque particulièrement les arts des natifs du Nords de l’Amérique, que l’on peut trouver en Alaska où sur les terres Inuits du Canada.
