The question of movement has always been an integral part of Philippe HIQUILY’s work. In line with the mobiles and fountains he produced since the end of the 1950s, in 1963 he created a trio of monumental 12-meter weather vanes installed on the beach of Elviria (Marbella, Spain) which he reinterpreted more than 30 years later when he was asked by the city of Shanghai to carry out a monumental project for the 2010 Universal Exhibition. Given the success of this work, the artist designed a series of weather vanes the following year, including the Summer Weather Vane, which was produced at a height of 5 meters.
