Raphëlle Bertran Pinheiro: 2022 Carré sur Seine Prize Laureate

On November 8, 2022, the jury met under the chairmanship of Chiara Parisi, Director of Centre Pompidou-Metz, and the managers of Carré sur Seine. Following a lively deliberation, given the richness of the finalists’ artistic approaches, the 2022 Carré sur Seine Prize was awarded to:

• Raphaëlle Bertran, for the strength and balance invested in an analytical approach to painting that anchors it in a new narrative and demonstrates the power that can emanate from research work that is woven together while remaining close to human intimacy.
• Emeric Lhuisset, for his ability to represent controversial events in contemporary geopolitical history, challenging the official and canonized formulas of historical and journalistic narratives, for the rights of global citizenship in the post-colonial era;
• Luca Resta, for his ability to address issues such as provenance, ancestry, and everyday memory from a contemporary perspective that combines lyricism and irony.

The three prizes will be awarded to the winners during the major collective exhibition that will bring together all the winners in the large exhibition hall of POUSH in February 2023, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Prix Carré sur Seine.
