Exhibition “Captifs du Temps” at Philharmonie of Paris
Off-site
Alžběta Wolfová
06/02/2026 — 18/03/2026
Alžbětka Wolfová presents an immersive installation centered around the memory of living beings in the exhibition Captives of Time. This exhibition is produced by the Signature Foundation, in collaboration with the Philharmonie de Paris, and with the participation of the National Museum of Natural History.
“Whether looking back or looking ahead, the Captifs du temps project invites contemplation and wonder: the choice of translucent material for the photographic prints and epoxy resin for the Chronolanterne not only highlights the relief and delicacy of the insects frozen in their amber prison that inspired it, but also seems to bring to life a whole world and biodiversity that has disappeared.
The installation, designed for the Philharmonie, features seven large backlit photographs of amber inclusions and a sculpture-installation. This hemispherical optical and sound chamber is a magic lantern almost two meters high, projecting 180° images accompanied by an original soundtrack.
Privileged access to the amber collections of the National Museum of Natural History and his work alongside paleoentomologist André Nel, scientific director of all terrestrial arthropod collections and the amber fossil collection at the Parisian institution, opened up a whole new field of exploration and creation for him, as powerfully demonstrated by his Captifs du temps (Captives of Time).”
The exhibition will be on display from February 6 to March 18, 2026, in the foyer on the second floor (Hall 2) of the Philharmonie de Paris building, 221 avenue Jean-Jaurès, 75019 Paris.
It is accessible during performance times upon presentation of a concert ticket for the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez.
Free guided tours with the artist will be held on the following dates: February 17, February 21, and March 5 at 6 p.m.
