Biography

Duo of artist-sculptors, composed of two brothers:
Karim Berchiche born in 1978 in Le Quesnoy (Nord) & Luc Berchiche born in 1981 in Le Quesnoy (Nord)
Currently live and work in Paris.

Behind La Fratrie are two brothers, Karim, graduate of a DEA in Political Science at the IEP of Paris and Luc, holder of a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Lille 3.

Since their childhood, they have been creating fascinating sculptures with four hands, hence the choice of their artist’s name, fascinating sculptures of precision and evocations that question the relationship between men and environment.

Suspended miniature islands or meticulous constructions, by their plastic and formal precision, their sculptures, composed of multiple materials, give their creators a dimension of craftsmen of a utopian world in the true sense of the term (“the place which is not “).

These aerial rocks constitute as many worlds in themselves, illusions uprooted from their space of origin. Singular and complex fictions, they introduce narrative scenes most often allegorical but also true reflections on the brevity and fragility of life.
