Objectal
Objectal is a group of two artists: Bernard Dreyfuss and Claude Pougny. These two artists studied at the National School of Fine Arts, where they met in 1965. It was then after many joint projects that Objectal was created in 1976. As you will see, there is a bowl in each of their works. This bowl is not a coincidence and is an integral part of their touch. The bowl is the icon of an everyday object present in almost all their works. He is both an integral part of the painting in figuration, as well as in abstraction since 1978.

QUOTE
What to do with a collection? Pursue it to infinity? Better use it as a support, pretext, figure, subject… Since 1978, the Objectal group (Bernard Dreyfuss and Claude Pougny) has combined the bowl in all its states, its approaches, its historical, geographical, decorative, allegorical and mythical variants. The bowl as object of analysis and vector of synthesis. Objectal thus associates the desire of the object and the object of desire. In turn and simultaneously, sociologists, historians, directors, artisans, creators, humorists, linguists, archaeologists, semiologists, Dreyfuss and Pougny always remain radically painters. They practice, with full hands (four in total), a two-headed painting that takes hold of the bowl to make it an object of iconographic studies. The collection becomes a repertoire, a reservoir, a library, an inventory and inexhaustible collection. Henceforth «the porcelain bowl without handles», in the infinity of its declinations, disappears to better discover itself in its very plasticity. The bowl becomes, thanks to Objectal, the paradigm of a total art!
