This universe of ink and light, of energy and power, is that of the history of Chinese painting. Between shanshui and calligraphy, Lin Yusi seeks to capture the very essence of the works that have preceded him for centuries. He pays tribute to the great masters of Chinese art by revisiting the themes and techniques that defined their greatness. It is therefore no surprise that he was recently chosen by the Chinese government to create a monumental mural over 20 meters long. A recognition of his technique and knowledge, certainly a great honor, but also a source of anxiety.
The fear of disappearing in favor of an art that is too classical, the fear of having to efface oneself under the weight of the task.
For Lin Yusi is that very figure is the small, sensitive, and secret being immersed in a universe ready to engulf him. He knows that courage and strength have never been measured by size or by noise. To confront his own inner demons, he chooses to face them, to overcome his fears and his own limits. To leave, to explore, to free himself.

For the first time in his life, Lin Yusi agrees to devote himself to a solo exhibition abroad. Encouraged by Jean-François Roudillon, who has been visiting his studio for more than ten years, he dares to break free from the weight of his own culture to present a deeply personal body of work, offering us his own story.

Living in Canton, China. Lin Yusi was born in Huilai, Guangdong province, in 1978.
