More informations
Zhao Bandi is a Chinese artist born in 1966. He is often nicknamed "the panda man" because many of his works (paintings, sculptures, installations, but also costumes) represent or allude to the figure of the panda. Through this animal, a true national symbol in China, Zhao Bandi produces works at the frontiers of art, advertising and political propaganda that address themes such as the use of drugs, air pollution, violence. or unemployment. But the plush panda with which he dialogues in his photographs (through a system of text bubbles) also symbolizes the only child, to whom he transmits culture and society in a humorous and ironic way.
