DISINTEGRATED DYNAMICS
Beginning in the late 1950s, Marino developed his theory of disintegration using simple elements such as cubes and cylinders to create new dynamic structures consistent with his new approach. He also explored different compositional sizes to design successful monumental works, believing that a work must be able to function on a small scale to be successful on a large scale. He creates “micro-models” to visualize his large-scale compositions and then builds them in steel to evaluate their potential. In this way, he creates monumental sculptures that become emblematic of his work and that he conceives as true “architectural structures”.
