The artist

Francesco Marino Di Teana is an artist at the same time painter, sculptor, architect, poet and philosopher, who marked the sculpture of the years 1950-60 with his theories on tri-unitary logic which integrate the “void” as an active element of the pictorial and architectural composition.

This sculpture, which perfectly symbolizes the artist’s work around the question of “architectural sculpture”, shows us the construction and evolution of monumental architectural perspective in the sculptor’s mind. Its first version, simply shaped with three interrelated curved elements each representing a building dedicated to a university research center (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) was modified in 1961 with the addition of a central bar structuring the whole. In 1962, Marino also created an architectural plaster model with small figures to better visualize the monumental scale of the project. This model, which is part of a set of utopian architectural constructions called “Future Cities”, is presented in a more complete way in the 7th part of this catalog.Subsequently the artist will also create several editions of this piece as well as a monumental sculpture in cement installed in the high school of Gournay-en-Bray.
